Sustainability Work

Our Sustainability Promise

Our sustainability work rests on three clear pillars: responsible facility operations, a strong focus on health and activity, and a warm and inclusive view of diversity. Together, they shape our vision of a Kläppen that develops with care – for guests, employees, and the mountain environment.

We work purposefully to reduce our climate impact and protect the mountain where we operate. All our electricity comes from fossil-free sources, our buildings are heated with geothermal energy, and we continuously invest in energy-efficient technology. Snow production is controlled by smart systems that ensure we only produce the snow that is really needed, and all diesel-powered vehicles run on 100% fossil-free HVO. Our goal is for all facility operations to be fossil-free by 2027 – and the entire resort by 2030. By developing lifts, lodging, and vehicles in a sustainable way, we are creating a Kläppen that will remain strong in the future.

The joy of movement is the core of our business. We know that nature and activity strengthen both body and soul, and we want more people to experience these positive effects. That’s why we offer activities year-round, invest in accessible skiing and strive to increase the number of active guests in a sustainable way. For example, we offer free Skipass for children up to and including 7 years, and benefits for those living in our nearby areas, as part of promoting well-being throughout the region.

We also want to be a workplace and destination where everyone feels included. Through collaborations, local engagement, and a value-driven corporate culture, we actively work with diversity and mental health. We recruit based on personality and potential rather than CVs, support local sports clubs, and create opportunities for young people to take their first steps in working life. Our core values TOPP: Safe, Considerate, Personal and Professional, permeate everything we do and help us build an environment where people grow and feel at home.
