Kläppensnö
At Kläppen, we don't just talk about natural snow or machine-made snow, we talk about Kläppensnö. It is developed to provide you with as natural and sustainable a surface as possible.
By using dry machine-made snow with larger crystals, we create snow that resembles natural snow but withstands weather changes much better. The secret lies in the precise balance between air and water, adjusted according to the temperature and weather.
More sustainable than natural snow
Kläppensnö is already compact when it lands on the slope, making it more sustainable than natural snow. It's noticeable even when you build a snowman, as the snowballs quickly become heavy and stable. The snow is laid down early in the season, as soon as we get 20–25 days of the right cold. Once it is in place, it resists both wind and mild weather in a way that natural snow cannot. This means the skiing is of high quality even in snow-scarce winters.
At least half a metre on the slopes
In most slopes, we have at least half a metre of snow, thanks to one of the world's most advanced snow systems. Once the snow is in place, our groomer operators shape the surface, often the evening before, to create that perfect corduroy you encounter in the morning.
- The entire snow system pumps out 38 cubic metres of water per minute, which becomes 80 cubic metres of snow per minute.
- We have some of the world's finest snow cannons and can produce approximately 1,200 litres of snow per second.
Kläppensnö is our guarantee
Every evening, we go through all the slopes to know exactly where grooming is needed. In this way, you can wake up to a new, well-prepared ski day regardless of how the weather was the day before. Kläppensnö is our guarantee that you will always enjoy really good skiing.
